Math and Literacy Websites
Math Playground
This website offers many games and videos for students to explore and learn math. One thing that I really like about this website is how it is directly aligned with the Common Core standards, so all of the activities in the section labeled CCSS Math are very applicable to ideas we are learning in the classroom. There are games for many different math topics, including geometry games such as Pattern Blocks and Kangaroo Hop.

This website is great because it immediately is broken up by grade level. After choosing a grade, students can decide what they would like to do, such as exploring the manipulatives, looking at the glossary, doing extra practice, or playing games. While there are only a few games in each grade level, students can explore games that are not in their grade level as well. It would be great to see students using this site to work ahead, so that they are even more prepared for our lessons in class!

There are many different math games on this site, and it is great because it covers so many different areas of mathematics. Not only can students practice geometry, with games such as Can't Wait To Tesselate and Cyberchase Squares, but they can also practice estimation with Glowla's Estimation Contraption or doubling numbers with Double the Donuts. The bright colors and eye-catching graphics will appeal to students, and they will hardly even realize that they are learning too!

This website is great because it has games, shows, and a homework zone for students to practice all subjects. This site is not limited to math, but it has a lot of good math resources, as well as the other subjects. Students can review geometry in games such as Stacking Up, where they must stack shapes without letting the tower get too high, or Triangle Alley, where they can help the characters Daisy and Tumbleweed put the town back in order.

This website has a variety of animated books that children can either read or sing. The pictures compliment the words, so the students also have more of a book reading experience. There are also games available, so students can match letters of the alphabet or explore the music section and listen to songs.
